A clear and original understanding of the divine, reality and what it means to be human

Since undergoing my own spiritual emergency after a bout with breast cancer in 2007, the seeker in me has been on hyper-drive. While I have spent a great deal of my life reading philosophy and psychology books, my recent love affair with authors and books that bridge the worlds of spirituality and science has been insatiable to say the least. Of all the books I have read to date, however, Martin Ball's book, Being Human, offers a completely original and I would venture to say holistic and practical guide to understanding our relationship to what many refer to as God, but what Martin so succinctly refers to as the divine imagination - an energy that is in all beings but that has manifested in human beings in a particularly unique and sophisticated way.
Originally recommended to me by another favorite author of mine, John Jay Harper (author of Tranceformers: Shamans of the 21st Century), it took me almost a year to pick up Martin's book. Once I began reading it and understanding his message, however, many of my old beliefs around spirituality, parapsychology, metaphysics and religion began to fall away. His simple yet profoundly encompassing view of what it means to be human and simultaneously embody the divine provides great comfort and reminds us that although we are a fractal representation of the divine, as human beings we are always subject to the laws of the physical world and must maintain patience as we embrace slow and incremental change in the future of our race through the process of evolution. Martin's main message in Being Human is to remind each of us to stay grounded in `reality' as much as possible and he recommends some interesting and less than traditional tools to achieve this (at least not traditional to those of us who subscribe to western medicine and psychology). Regardless of your moral opinion of these techniques, his challenge to each of us to discover our own personal interface with the divine as a gateway to better understanding ourselves, our ego and reality is a refreshing and honest approach to helping us shed our illusionary perceptions that often hold us back from true growth and evolution.
For those who have not found resonance in the philosophy of detachment from the physical world as a path to enlightenment, this book may well be just what you need to re-start this journey through a process beginning with feeling grounded in your body. After all, it is through our earthly experience of a divine intention-based evolution and the truth that each of us is, in fact, a fractal representation of that divine imagination that brought us here to this magnificent planet to begin with.

Questions on God, soul and Spirit?

Being Human, by Martin W. Ball, PH.D is an excellent little book that explores the use of ethnogens and God-states. As a licensed Medicine Man - Spirit Guide practicing Native healing, I've spent a significant amount of time and energy investigating the use of ethnogens as a means of psycho-physical healing. History is rife with explanations and experiences of their effective use, yet the drug companies have essentially stolen the healing powers of plants and programmed people to believe that drugs given by doctors are safe and effective, and that you are putting yourself in grave danger if you use any drug that isn't considered "legal" or isn't physician prescribed. Look at the news tonight to see if that idea is working...look all around you!
While I recommend this book by Martin Ball, there are some points of contention I'll share briefly here:
1. On p.13, Ball states:... "Religions teach us that we have souls or spirits that give us life. This is fundamentally incorrect. Your life is God. You do not have a spirit or a soul in any way whatsoever. You are God in a body. Any idea of a soul or spirit is superfluous, unnecessary and ultimately incorrect. Each living being is God embodied directly from source.
This statement is self-contradictory. The last sentence here, ". Each living being is God embodied directly from source." Suggests that each living being is embodied directly from source. The key word here is "source". Used correctly, "GOD" means "ALL". The truth, as I experience it, is that God is Sum and Source. If God is God, there can be none other, for God is the source of substance; substance being that which exists as measurable or "knowable AS something". Yet, you can not have a "something" without it's antagonist, "no-thing". To get to any countable (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9...), you must come from no-thing. No-Thing is what I refer to as The Zero-Force.
Reduced to absolute essentials, God equates to only two Absolute Qualities:
1. The Absolutely Full, and
2. The Absolutely Empty.
When these two meet, vibration occurs. The name for the primordial vibration that is the source and sum of all manifest existence is Spirit. If it moves, it is Spirit!
Soul is the neutral point between that which is negative, and that which is positive. In the tai-chi symbol, soul would be represented as the line creating the apparent division of yin and yang; it is always in the place of neutral polarity. In my last post, I spoke about "Doing Nothing", and that is how a soul works. It is like the axle on the front wheels of your car; it does nothing, but is essential for the wheel's expression of rotation, and therefore, translocation. To understand why a soul is essential is to understand that without an axle, there could be no functional revolution (time & movement), which is the essential nature of evolution.
2. On p. 35, Ball states, "To put it bluntly, the kinds of energy being discussed in this guide have nothing to do with any concept of subtle energy and are not comparable to religious constructions of subtle energy in any way. Subtle energy is imaginary. Real energy is physiological.
This statement is again, self-negating. First of all, the essential nature of the word "religion" means, "reunion", a coming together of the parts into a whole. Therefore, any use of an ethnogeny, any form of spiritual or religious practice, or act of life that awakens one such that their actions become more congruent with regard to experiencing wholeness in life, are religious if the word is used correctly. Additionally, what is referred to as subtle energy is merely that which is not gross - measurable. As science evolves, more and more of what was once "subtle" is becoming measureable. Therefore, just as we once thought the world was flat, and that the earth was the center of the universe, we are now equipped with the science to validate subtle energy as "real energy". Even a brief study of Quantum Physics proves that the entire universe is emergent of an inexhaustible well of...you guessed it, subtle energy.
For those of you interested in an excellent book with the science to show that subtle energies are real and well validated, I suggest The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of Your Energetic Anatomy, by Cyndi Dayle. I use this book as requisite reading for CHEK Level 4 students so if you like, you can start getting ready now!

Introduction to 5-MeO-DMT: The God Molecule

Let me be as blunt as this book's author and message: "You are God! ... Now Get Over it!"
First, I must say upfront this is not a tome for the timid or those that have no previous exposure to Dr. Ball's background with entheogenic prescriptions. He comes on like a rush, fills your mind's eye with fractal visual images that vibrate like a supersonic, heart-throbbing didgeridoo on digitalis. That is, he will strengthen the contractions of your body-mind and connections of your neural network as he then rapidly flushes the excessive fluids from your ego!
Second, I can state on-the-record that there is no other text like this one in existence in the modern literature. No one outside James Oroc, author of Tryptamine Palace: 5-MeO-DMT and the Sonoran Desert Toad has documented such a spaceflight into the Divine Imagination and made such simple sense of it that rings as loud and clear as a Tibetan Gong.
In a nutshell, or mortar and pestle, this is medicine: it heals as it teaches eternal truths. Get you a heaping helping of God Within Us and evolve!
